Cookies we set ourselves

Our articles, guides and tools don't set cookies of their own, and our visitor statistics work without cookies. We use first-party cookies only on the contact page and in the private admin area used by our staff.

Cookie Where Purpose How long it lasts
Session cookie Contact page only Keeps the form secure and shows confirmation or error messages Short-lived, about two hours
XSRF token Contact page only Protects the form from cross-site request forgery Short-lived, about two hours

These are strictly necessary for the form to work. Staff signing in to the admin area also get a session cookie, and an optional "remember me" cookie if they choose it.

Browser storage for tools

Our cost estimator doesn't save what you type. Its calculations take place in your browser, and they disappear when you leave the page.

Advertising cookies

We plan to use Google AdSense. Once it's active, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, limit how often you see one and, where you've allowed it, personalize them.

If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you should see a consent message from a certified consent platform before any non-essential cookies are used. You'll be able to change your mind later.

How to control cookies

You can also use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies won't stop you reading our guides, but the contact form may not work without them. Your browser's help pages explain how to do this.

Changes

We'll update this page if the cookies we use change, particularly when advertising goes live. For more about your data, read our privacy policy.
